CIRCE develops more compact and powerful power electronics solutions

The technology center offers customized electronic configurations to serve a wide range of companies.

CIRCE has achieved new milestones in its power electronics developments, positioning the technology center at the forefront of this field worldwide.

Thanks to its robust line of work in studying and applying advanced, high-efficiency power configurations, CIRCE has successfully implemented innovative solutions in several high-frequency switching converters for various applications.

One such achievement has been reducing the weight and size of these converters while enhancing their performance by utilizing the latest power transistor technology: silicon carbide, a material that offers multiple advantages under extreme conditions of temperature, voltage, and frequency.

In various projects, both with European funding and for private clients, CIRCE has developed power topologies aimed at applications such as electric vehicle charging, battery connection and management systems, and renewable energy.

Reducing 'Time to Market' for products with electronic configurations and efficiencies above 98%

Through these developments, CIRCE provides a wide range of companies with customized electronic configurations, reducing the 'time to market' for products by working from the design stage through to the industrialization process and final equipment approval, offering comprehensive support to industrial partners.

Among CIRCE’s notable developments are multi-level converters of up to 250 kW that are completely inaudible, with efficiencies exceeding 98% and total harmonic distortion (THD) rates below 1%, as well as converters for charging and discharging batteries with high power density of up to 2 kW per liter.

Currently, the technology center is also developing a high-frequency resonant topology using silicon carbide devices for a smart power transformer for the electrical transmission and distribution grid.

Among other functions, this transformer will be able to act as a FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) directly connected to high-voltage networks without the need for traditional transformers.

In the field of electric vehicles, CIRCE has developed contactless charging and power supply systems that transfer more than 300 kW and allow for charging both while stationary and in motion, eliminating waiting times.
