CEFA takes another step towards intelligent energy management of its plant with the help of CIRCE
The Aragonese plant CEFA (Celulosa Fabril) in Malpica takes a further step to position itself as a reference in intelligent energy management.
The company, which specializes in the manufacture of automotive parts, has undertaken a digitalization project with the CIRCE technology center to improve its competitiveness by focusing on improving energy efficiency through comprehensive monitoring of each of the plant's energy uses.
Thanks to this project, which began two years ago with an energy audit to detect the critical points of consumption, CEFA has managed to increase its energy efficiency by around 9% by monitoring 85% of the plant located in Zaragoza.
How has CEFA achieved this improvement in the energy efficiency of its plant?
This has been achieved with the installation of more than 120 analyzers integrated with production records in a SCADA.
This system has enabled the company to increase its knowledge of how it consumes energy and to identify inefficiencies and savings points both by integrating more efficient technologies and by establishing efficient production management to maximize the energy performance of the current machinery.
The Aragonese plant aims to be 100 percent sensorized in a third phase that is currently underway. When this project is completed, the industry will achieve the goal of saving its total energy consumption.
This joint work has enabled CEFA to have all the information from its plant in real time, to be able to analyze performance data and thus make the best decisions in the energy field to improve its competitiveness.
This project is another step in a strategy aimed at improving the plant's energy efficiency and sustainability, in which projects are also being carried out to improve materials and incorporate Industry 4.0 processes focused on the development of electric vehicles.
