The E2DRIVER project provides the automotive sector with innovative tools for energy savings
The E2DRIVER project has kicked off with the goal of developing a platform for energy efficiency training for SMEs in the automotive sector. The kickoff meeting took place this month at the CIRCE Foundation headquarters in Zaragoza, the coordinator of the project, which comprises 12 partners from Spain, France, Italy, Germany, and Belgium.
The primary objective of the project, funded by the European Commission through the Horizon 2020 program with nearly €2 million, is to raise awareness among businesses about the numerous benefits of energy audits. Additionally, the project aims to provide the necessary knowledge and information for companies to recognize and implement actions to save energy in their facilities.
Savings of 13 GWh/year, around €2.5M/year, and the avoidance of 3.5 KT of CO2 emissions
This will be achieved through an active learning platform for energy audits, which will include virtual reality content. The platform will propose over 100 energy efficiency measures, of which at least 65 will be implemented.
As a result, the project aims to achieve energy savings of 13 GWh/year, equivalent to around €2.5 million per year, thus avoiding the emission of 3.5 kilotons of carbon dioxide annually. These measures will be tested in 40 companies in the sector, training 60 professionals within these companies to be able to use the platform's content independently after the project's completion in three years.
Specifically, this innovative methodology will be implemented in 12 pilot companies in Spain, France, Italy, and Germany and replicated in another 28. CIRCE leads the consortium formed by 12 companies and entities: Fraunhofer, Politecnico Di Torino, Eproplan, Sinergie, ENGIE, SERNAUTO, Automotive Engineering Network, MESAP, Mov’eo, EPC, and Merit Consulting House.
In addition to coordinating the entire project, CIRCE will participate in both the development of innovative training methodologies and their delivery in various SMEs in the automotive sector in Spain, working closely with them and assisting in the implementation of energy efficiency measures.
