Description and objectives

The video game will include the most relevant aspects to improve energy efficiency in buildings. The barriers and behaviors influencing the change of mentality towards more energy efficient behaviors will be studied by psychologists and sociologists.

These studies will focus on users, owners and operators of public buildings, both individually and collectively.

Five pilots have been selected representing public buildings in the EU, covering schools, social housing, healthcare facilities, offices and universities in different climate zones. Virtual pilots will be developed, as well as avatars representing the real users of these buildings.

Finally, a global solution will be created to promote the creation of an IT ecosystem that, combined with group behavioral changes, will result in a global willingness to live in a more efficient society. This pack will be made available to public authorities interested in improving the performance of their buildings, and will consist of:

  • An energy audit and initial diagnosis
  • The development of virtual pilots according to the real buildings.
  • An ICT tool adapted to energy efficiency development plans
  • A financing scheme combining existing tools with “Cleanweb” solutions
  • A recruitment campaign to act on the main challenges of behavioral change.

Value proposition

The overall objective of the TRIBE project is to contribute to a change of mentality of citizens towards more energy efficient behaviors in public buildings, through their involvement in the experience of a social video game.

The game will be connected through ICTs to the real data of 5 pilot buildings, which host about 1,300 permanent users (employees, owners...), and about 12,000 occasional users (visitors).

In addition to the users of these buildings, TRIBE aims to reach the rest of society, involving more than 75,000 players by the end of the project.
