Description and objectives

TH2ICINO supports the deployment of hydrogen micro-economies for the EU by developing and demonstrating a complete ecosystem composed of 6 replicable use cases linked to parts of the hydrogen value chain. The results will be validated in a Master Planning Tool (MPT), the replicability of which will be tested in the project.

The hydrogen valley demonstration will work on the four pillars of the hydrogen value chain: (i) hydrogen production, (ii) hydrogen storage, (iii) hydrogen distribution and (iv) hydrogen consumption and will establish the initial state of TH2ICINO, to enable replication and expansion.

A first stage will include modeling, simulation and staging, from the electrolysis plant to the end user, to evaluate different scenarios and optimize them taking into account technological constraints. Once the optimal cases have been defined, an implementation phase will make the innovative ecosystem concept a reality with tangible results to feed the MPT.

Value proposition

  • Integral Design of the Valley Ecosystem: CIRCE leads the design of the Valley ecosystem, comprehensively addressing the implementation of hydrogen solutions in the area.
  • Detailed Hydrogen Consumption Study: In the initial phases, CIRCE will carry out a detailed study of the hydrogen consumption points in the area, considering their consumption volume and possible clusters.
  • Hydrogen Transportation Network Analysis: It will evaluate feasible hydrogen transportation networks in terms of time, budget and flexibility. The possibility of mobile transport systems or Natural Gas (Blending) pipelines will be explored.
  • Strategic Collaboration with LHYFE: Will collaborate closely with LHYFE, responsible for hydrogen chain management, to define the distribution strategy and engineering. This collaboration ensures consistent and efficient implementation.
  • Detailed Understanding of Asset Modeling: You will play a crucial role in understanding the specifics of the asset modeling to be implemented, considering operational constraints. You will gather information on installed capacities, operational constraints and sizing of hydrogen demand in the valley.
  • Production, Storage and Distribution Optimization: You will use the information gathered to optimize hydrogen production, storage and distribution in the valley, ensuring an efficient and sustainable implementation.
