Description and objectives
In order to increase the energy efficiency of SMEs, the project will improve and adapt at European level an energy saving tool developed by one of the partners in 2008, which has already been used more than 1,500 times.
This tool will present a series of benchmark energy improvements that are easy and interesting to implement (organizational or technical) for SMEs, as well as more advanced ones for those with high energy consumption. All energy saving measures include and will have indicated the payback period of the investments.
In addition, the tool will create a library of energy saving measures and an assistance module for SMEs interested in implementing these saving measures.
The project will make a major dissemination effort to ensure that 1,500 SMEs use the energy savings tool, and 350 SMEs per country involved will be encouraged to put into practice the indications obtained with it, facilitating the contact of users with sales representatives, builders or energy consulting companies, to encourage the implementation of these measures.
Subsequently, advice and supervision will be given to those SMEs that have the greatest potential for reduction due to their high consumption, but which require greater investment.
Since high investment can be a barrier for SMEs, the team of experts will also provide information on possible local, regional or national financing programs.
Value proposition
The SME Energy CheckUp project aims to promote the implementation of energy saving measures among European SMEs to improve their competitiveness and the sustainability of their activities.
The energy savings achieved with the project have been estimated at more than 50GWh per year. It is also expected that by 2020 this figure will exceed 300GWh per year, since one of the objectives of SME Energy CheckUp is that the project becomes self-sufficient, remaining active after the end of its planned execution period.
