Description and objectives
The SHIFT2DC project aims to propose and implement a superior approach, without application restrictions, for the design, simulation, testing, validation and application of medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) direct current (DC) solutions.
Thirty-two partners from twelve countries will collaborate to develop, test and demonstrate the technical feasibility, economic benefits, life cycle and environmental impact of the proposed DC solutions in data centers, buildings, industries and ports in Europe (Germany, France and Portugal).
Field tests will allow to evaluate advanced control methodologies and tools, define suitable implementation conditions and consolidate the most promising solutions and business models for MV and LV DC systems.
Value proposition
SHIFT2DC will also assess the consumer perspective on DC solutions and propose new tools to encourage faster adoption. The solutions and tools developed will be case agnostic, allowing their use in a variety of applications.
In a second stage, specific libraries for buildings, data centers, industries and ports will be proposed for more detailed simulation. The CC solutions will consider interoperability requirements, scalability opportunities, and security and privacy needs.
In addition, they will contribute to the development of standards and propose a regulatory framework that promotes the adoption of MVDC and LVDC solutions, ensuring the safe and cost-effective management of power systems in hybrid AC/DC networks.
