Description and objectives

REEFLEX is focused on providing greater participation of energy consumers in demand-side flexibility markets and demonstrating niche opportunities for new services provided by SMEs and start-ups, seeing a growing number of distributed energy resources (DER) connected to the grid.

These DERs come from a wide variety of energy sectors and vectors, accompanied by the introduction of new digitized assets. This decentralization poses significant challenges to system resilience and uncertainty in traditional control routines.

To ensure the replicability of REEFLEX solutions, they will be demonstrated and tested in 4 main demonstrators (Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Bulgaria). The service portfolio will be replicated in three additional replicators to achieve a wider coverage (Turkey, Portugal, Denmark).

Value proposition

The primary scope of REEFLEX is to develop a set of viable interoperable solutions and services that increase energy consumers' participation in demand side flexibility (DSF) markets. In addition, it will do the following:

  • Develop a catalog of tailored flexibility services and interoperable tools for specific consumer groups.
  • Develop a central service platform and energy marketplace, reducing barriers to entry and transaction costs
  • Unify technical, sustainability, environmental, economic and social parameters, ensuring that privacy, cybersecurity and data management issues are properly managed
  • Classify all assets installed in the network according to their potential for flexibility and SRI, empowering them with interoperability capabilities
  • Conduct a demonstration program up to TRL7 in 4 main demonstration sites with cross replication covering different power vectors
  • Explore the full replication potential of the solutions considering cost-benefit analysis on 3 additional replicators
