Description and objectives

InCUBE brings together 23 partners from 7 countries to drive EU renovation through standardized processes in 4 pillars: industrialization, new environmentally friendly technologies, digitalization and new market entrants. The InCUBE Suite integrates digital tools to coordinate renovation phases and turn buildings into active energy nodes. It will be validated in 3 demonstration sites in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. It is expected to reduce waste streams and renovation costs, save energy and reduce GHG emissions.

The main objective is to offer innovative products and processes for complete renovation, together with digital tools to optimize workflows. InCUBE follows a BIM and digital twin approach for sustainable design and operation, considering user comfort and connecting data from the digital building model to the physical system. It seeks to generate a portfolio of novel business models aligned with EU strategic objectives and ensure effective participation of the supply chain and building owners/tenants for long-term sustainability.

Value proposition

  • Complete Integration of the Construction/Renovation Value Chain: CIRCE focuses on bringing together and integrating the entire construction/renovation value chain to reduce the performance gap between what is built and what is designed. The goal is to increase renovation efficiency and maximize synergies throughout the process.
  • Energy Optimization and Lean Construction Practices: Energy optimization during the operation phase and lean construction practices are combined with other outcomes resulting in the creation of the inclusive InCUBE Toolbox (Suite).
  • InCUBE Unified Platform: The ultimate goal is to integrate all digital components of InCUBE into a unified platform. This enables the digitization of products and processes, aligning with key pillar #3 and improving the efficiency and consistency of the renewal.
  • Creation of Digital Product Identifiers: The aim is to create digital product identifiers, acting as digital twins. These innovative products will be introduced and demonstrated in InCUBE, facilitating the integral digitalization of the renovation process.
  • Contribution to Standardized Renovation Passports and Products: The identification, consolidation and meaningful presentation of InCUBE Suite results will strengthen the development and standardization of building renovation passports and products (BRP/PRP). This will provide a long-term step-by-step roadmap for renovation and create new incentives for building upgrades.
