Description and objectives
- The CIRC4Life project aims to develop and implement a circular economy approach for sustainable products and services throughout their value and supply chains. Three new circular economy business models will be developed, including (i) co-creation of products and services, (ii) sustainable consumption, and (iii) collaborative recycling and reuse.
The product/service co-creation model will bring end-users closer to the design and manufacturing phases, identifying consumer preferences through Big-data online mining product reviews and evaluating product specifications and prototypes through the Living Lab to customize end-user requirements. Benefiting from co-creation features, sets of sustainable production methods will be implemented and new products/services will be created. - The sustainable consumption model will develop a method to calculate product ecopoints based on the results of the FP7 myEcoCost project, assess product environmental footprints (PEF), provide a traceability solution to monitor product sustainability along the value chain, and support end-users and stakeholders to actively implement the circular economy through awareness raising and knowledge sharing activities.
- The collaborative recycling/reuse model will develop a system for stakeholders to interact with each other to facilitate the use or reuse of end-of-life products and reduce waste, and implement the eco-credit delivery system to encourage people to recycle/reuse.
Value proposition
This project will be demonstrated on a large scale in electrical and electronic products and in the agricultural and agri-food sectors, will provide an effective means of communicating with broad communities to disseminate project results, and will involve a large number of stakeholders along the value and supply chains throughout the life of the project, including end users, producers, researchers and civil society.
CIRC4Life aims to demonstrate a systemic and eco-innovative circular economy approach to sustainable products and services throughout their life cycles. This includes:
- Three new circular economy business models: co-creation of products and services, sustainable consumption, and collaborative recycling and reuse, to be demonstrated in two industry sectors, electrical and electronic products and agriculture/food;
- effective means of communicating with wider communities to disseminate project results; and
- an ICT platform to support project development, demonstration, dissemination and communication.
