Description and objectives
Since the publication of the Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP), there will be an administrative differentiation between large wind turbines and mini wind turbines.
At present, there are several national manufacturers that offer small horizontal axis wind turbines, but there is no offer of vertical axis wind turbines.
This project proposes the optimization of a vertical axis mini-wind turbine and the demonstration of its functionality as a micro-generation system.
For this purpose, new parts of the wind turbine optimized for operation with the aerodynamic turbine will be developed.
As for the functionality demonstration, four operation scenarios are proposed, with four demonstrators, in which the wind turbine will operate as a micro-generation system alone or combined with solar photovoltaic energy and storage in an integrated manner.
The key parts of the project include the development of the permanent magnet electric generator, the design and development of the control electronics, the implementation of a control, monitoring and communications system, and the validation and verification of the optimized wind turbine and the demonstrators.
Value proposition
The main objective of the AVER project is to optimize the operation of a vertical axis mini wind turbine and demonstrate the capacity of this type of technology for use in micro-generation of electricity.
Other objectives include the development and demonstration of various technical equipment such as the electric generator itself, improving the competitiveness of the companies involved in the project and contributing to the participation of renewable energies in the electricity production mix, among others.
