Description of the service

The Electric Mobility Laboratory at CIRCE offers comprehensive support throughout the entire lifecycle of equipment development and testing for market introduction. From initial design to final verification, the laboratory provides a single point of contact for clients, minimizing project risks and ensuring the quality of equipment, from power electronics and insulation testing compliance to DC measurement.

The laboratory also has extensive knowledge of interoperabilityes testing for commercial electric vehicles. This experimental phase has facilitated the acquisition of additional data regarding the interoperability between electric vehicles and their corresponding charging stations. The laboratory's capabilities include vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technologies.

The efficiency of the charging and discharging process is a crucial factor in determining the total costs and business model of the V2G infrastructure. To calculate the efficiency of the bidirectional process, the laboratory can conduct tests that involve charging and discharging the vehicle to determine the average process efficiency. Additionally, the energy storage efficiency of the battery can be determined, along with the losses and efficiency of the power electronics stages, cables, and connectors between the EV and the EVCS.

The widespread deployment of poorly managed charging installations can overload the electrical system, especially in distribution networks. To address this challenge, the laboratory is equipped to validate and assist in the design process of various solutions, including reactive power, power factor correction, phase balancing, and harmonic filtering.
